At Milesbrand, we're thrilled to feature our very own Genevieve Benson and her work as a mentor in the Professional Women in Building (PWB) Council and the Young Leaders Council (YLC) formal mentoring program.

As the Business Development Director for Milesbrand, Genevieve works with leading home builders and developers throughout the U.S. to brand and market the top places to live and recreate in the country. She has served on the Homebuilders Association of Metro Denver Professional Women in Building Board for 5 years and held various positions. Genevieve is currently serving on the Executive Committee for 2021. The PWB Council represents women who are actively involved in all aspects of the building industry and the Council is an affiliate of the NAHB PWB Council.

“Over the years I have been encouraged, empowered, and challenged, by my mentors at the Home Builders Association of Metro Denver and the Professional Women in Building Council," Benson said. "This is my opportunity to give back to an industry that has empowered me and my professional development. I can’t think of a greater gift than to help others achieve their goals and to see the potential in themselves that they may not recognize."

The PWB Mission

The PWB Council is dedicated to empowering, engaging, and energizing women within the homebuilding industry. Through this pursuit, the Council provides professional development, resources, and networking opportunities while encouraging career advancement and community involvement.

The Council has teamed up with the Young Leaders Council to provide a formal mentoring program. In the mentoring program through PWB and YLC, the Council takes the best of both informal and formal mentorships by:

  • Arranging a formal match
  • Assigning a mentor committee member for program orientation
  • Presenting best practice and recommendations for success
  • Providing mentor and mentee workbooks
  • Expecting mentee-driven engagement
  • Requiring a 6-month commitment

Mentoring partnerships create opportunities and rewards for both the mentors and the mentees alike. Not only do mentees learn important skills and ideas for their own personal and professional growth, but mentors can also come away with strengthened leadership skills, fresh perspectives, and personal satisfaction in helping others reach their goals.

As a team devoted to excellence and growth, Milesbrand is proud of Genevieve’s commitment to giving back to the housing industry and her selection as an HBA Mentor. To learn more about the membership and its initiatives, visit the PWB Council page and the mentoring program page
