Milesbrand Welcomes Laura Ownbey as Brand Manager
Milesbrand is pleased to announce that Laura Ownbey has joined the agency as Brand Manager. Laura brings more than 15 years of home builder marketing experience to the role, spanning regional and national builders across Colorado, North Carolina and Virginia, and she steps into Milesbrand at a moment when the agency's client roster and workload continue to grow.
Laura's background reads like a study in what makes a marketer valuable to a home builder client rather than just useful to an agency. At Mungo Homes, she directed branding for three master planned communities ranging from 1,200 to 1,700 homes across the Raleigh and Richmond divisions, coordinating multiple vendors into a single cohesive brand story for each community. During her time there, she also doubled online traffic across two divisions in a single year, a result driven not by more spending but by a full audit of the existing marketing mix and a reallocation toward the channels that were actually converting.
Before Mungo, Laura spent more than three years with Landmark Homes in Colorado, most recently as Director of Marketing, where the numbers get harder to ignore: monthly online traffic grew by more than 412%, online lead form submissions grew by nearly 2,000%, and social media followers grew by 250%. She also served as the lead team member handling talent liaison and marketing for season four of HGTV's Rock the Block, work that required close coordination between a home builder, a network production team, and a marketing department, an experience few home builder marketers ever get the chance to have. Her tenure in Colorado earned her the Denver Metro Home Builder Association's Marketing Professional of the Year award, along with recognition from the Northern Colorado Home Builder Association as both Individual Member of the Year and Rookie of the Year in earlier stages of her career.
Laura's presence in the industry extends well beyond any single builder's marketing department. She currently serves as a judge for the National Association of Home Builders' Nationals Awards, and her judging résumé also includes MAME, OBIE, McSAM, MAX! and Best of the Lake, giving her a working familiarity with what separates strong creative from forgettable creative across nearly every major regional and national award program in residential real estate marketing. She held leadership roles with the Northern Colorado Home Builder Association, including a seat on the Executive Board and a role co-chairing the Sales and Marketing Council, she carries certifications in HubSpot Inbound and she was a member of the Sales Leadership Roundtable program through Jeff Shore Consulting.
"With more than 15 years on the home builder side, Laura knows this industry well,” said Dave Miles, President and Brand Strategist of Milesbrand. “She knows how to manage community and builder budgets, how to oversee the marketing tactics that drive leads, and she understands the importance of keeping brand messaging consistent across every touchpoint. As Milesbrand continues to grow, Laura is an ideal addition to our team, and her experience makes her a natural fit."
Laura shared her own excitement about the move:
"I couldn't be more excited to join the Milesbrand team. This agency is a true standout in the industry; 130 Gold National Awards and counting is a testament to the caliber of talent and craft here. As a Brand Manager, I get to work alongside experts who are as generous with their knowledge as they are talented, and I can't wait to help our clients tell their stories and grow their brands. Supporting home builders and real estate developers on their branding and marketing journey, and doing it alongside a team this skilled, feels like exactly where I'm meant to be."
Laura's arrival reflects Milesbrand's long-standing commitment to engaging only senior, category-tested talent on every client engagement. Her direct experience running marketing departments and directing agency vendors from the builder's side of the table means Milesbrand's clients gain a team member who has sat in their chair and understands the pressures, timelines, and internal politics that come with launching a community brand. That perspective, combined with the agency's 35 years of exclusive focus on residential real estate, positions Milesbrand's clients to move even faster from strategy to execution.
Milesbrand's roster of home builder, developer, and master-planned community clients continues to expand, and Laura's addition to the team supports that growth while maintaining the senior-level, hands on service the agency has built its reputation on since 1989.
